This map is from the time when my ancestor Stefan AJETIC (1832-1899) was born in Ilok, Slavonia.

This part of the map has also the city of Bijeljina, the origin place of Ivan AJETIC also called from
Semberija. This place is now in Bosnia.

My ancestor Stjepan AJETIC coming from ILOK, Slavonia, Croatia was hired by the British company „John Trevor Barclay & John Staniforth“ which signed with the Romanian state a contract to build the railroad between Bucharest and Giurgiu. He was educated at Uppingham School, and began his business career at the South Hetton Collieries, near Sunderland, in 1839, being then thirteen years of age.
